Following its relocation, the BDC in Boucherville entrusted VAD with the interior design of its new offices, with the ambition of creating a hub for the South Shore of Montreal. Inspired by this vision, VAD came up with a concept where well-being, refinement, and collaboration naturally come together, creating spaces that are inspiring, functional, and human.
In line with WELL principles, eco-responsibility guided every decision, from the choice of materials and finishes to the furniture. Local sourcing was a guiding principle, reducing the project’s environmental footprint while promoting the expertise of local artisans.
The design offers an elegant and enveloping atmosphere, evoking a feeling of well-being and familiarity from the moment you enter. The color palette, dominated by a black and beige duo, acts as a sober and timeless environment, highlighting the richness of the textured materials chosen. Maple wood, an iconic local species, plays a central role, chosen for its natural beauty, durability, and connection to the region. The use of different textures reinforces the visual harmony and enveloping character of the space: felt provides acoustic and visual comfort, while textured carpets accentuate the warmth and coziness. The overall effect is characterized by an organic signature, where fluid, less geometric shapes create a natural flow and a unique spatial experience.
The layout is structured around clear zoning, meeting the varied needs of users. Open-plan workstations encourage interaction and collaboration, while individual cubicles provide quiet spaces ideal for calm, concentration, and productivity. Several meeting rooms support daily teamwork, complemented by a large modular conference room designed to be opened up or subdivided according to use. To support the BDC Boucherville’s events, an adjacent catering area has also been integrated, facilitating the hosting and holding of events in a fluid and functional setting.
The main challenge was to strictly meet the BDC’s specifications. The design team responded to this challenge with finesse, integrating these requirements while infusing the project with a distinctive signature and innovative concept. The layout reflects VAD’s commitment to designing meaningful work environments, where a balance of uses, quality of experience, and occupant well-being come together to create a sustainable and unifying environment.
