Focused on children’s and family health, Clinique STEP is dedicated to providing comprehensive medical care with an emphasis on support and collective well-being. Its mission is to offer all patients diverse, specialized, and trusted medical services in a collaborative and welcoming environment.
Spanning approximately 10,600 square feet, this project showcases our 5 key principles for successful clinic design: well-being, inclusivity, brand identity, confidentiality, hygiene, functionality, and safety.
The clinic features more than twenty consultation rooms, around ten shared physicians’ offices, a large reception area, and a bright, welcoming waiting space, as well as a generous cafeteria that doubles as a lounge area for staff. The entire space is designed with a warm, modern, timeless, and accessible approach.
Collaborative Workspaces
Unlike traditional clinics, which often consist of enclosed and compartmentalized offices, the design incorporates a bullpen-style workspace where physicians and healthcare professionals can interact and collaborate on a daily basis. This layout strengthens communication, fosters teamwork, and clearly stands apart from the conventional standards of the medical environment.
A Calming and Contemporary Design
From an aesthetic perspective, the goal was to create a refined and accessible clinic without relying on conventional pediatric design cues, such as saturated colors and overly literal themes. A soft, bright palette inspired by pastel tones was chosen to create a calming clinical environment for both children and parents, while maintaining a contemporary and elegant identity.
Durable Materials
The concept’s durability is rooted in thoughtful material choices:
- A durable, hygienic, and easy-to-maintain natural linoleum that integrates seamlessly with the color palette.
- Washable, durable paints that contribute to the longevity of the spaces.
- Signage and custom elements designed with a cohesive visual language, ensuring intuitive wayfinding while respecting the project’s overall identity.
Clinique STEP illustrates how design can concretely support the quality of care. By prioritizing collaborative spaces, a thoughtfully designed patient journey, and a soft, light-filled atmosphere, the project creates an environment where healthcare professionals, children, and families can thrive in a setting that is functional, human-centered, and calming.
